Red Velvet Cake

Ingredients:

1-1 oz. bottle of Red food color
4 1/2 tsp. cocoa
3/4 cup(s) butter
2 1/4 cup(s) sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 cup(s) buttermilk
2 1/2 cup(s) cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. butter flavoring
1 1/2 tsp. vinegar
3 tbsp. flour
1 cup(s) milk
1 cup(s) sugar
1 cup(s) butter
1 tsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

1. In small bowl, mix red food color and cocoa with fork; set aside
2. In bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
3. Add eggs. Add cocoa mixture to butter mixture and beat well
4. Sift flour with salt and baking soda and add alternately w/buttermilk to cream mixture, beginning and ending with
5. flour. Mix well
6. Fold in vanilla, butter flavoring and vinegar
7. Pour into greased and floured 9" round pans
8. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes
9. Cool layers on racks. Frost with "Special Frosting
10. For Special Frosting: In small saucepan, cook flour and milk over low heat until thick, stirring constantly
11. Cool completely
12. In large mixing bowl, cream sugar, butter, and vanilla until fluffy
13. Add cooled flour mixture; beat well
14. Spread between layers, then on top and sides of cake
